Welcome! District 2 is hosting it's second Community Book Club to give parents/caretakers in our community an opportunity to come together with District leaders and discuss a variety of topics through books. For the second book we will be reading We Are Not From Here by Jenny Torres Sanchez.
In such a large school system we want to do more to bring families and the District 2 team closer together. This is just one of the strategies we are using to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to connect directly with Superintendent Kelly McGuire and members of the District 2 team. The District 2 Book Club will center topics and stories that highlight issues and experiences connected to the lives of D2 students and families. We will draw upon young adult and high school texts that are a part of our New York City Schools curricula and survey participants for their ideas about books/topics that we should read. We will select books that are available in a variety of formats and are fairly quick to read. We want the District 2 Book Club to be accessible for busy parents and families, so it will be hosted on Zoom for 60 min. We hope you join us!
